Welcome to the PVSR Weekly Newsletter
2025 - 2026  Vol. 7

Gratitude 🙏

There’s something to say about rising in
the morning and taking time for stillness.
In that stillness, there’s an opportunity to
focus on gratitude
- for all we have and all
that matters most in our life. The opportunity
to serve is always present. Serving from a
place of authentic expression lights the
world. Who we serve this week, starting
with ourselves, may change someone’s life.
Here’s to all who volunteer and serve.

Special Recognition -
Our Beloved Video Tech Team

Have you ever wondered how zoom
comes alive at our meetings? Or how
the link between those out in cyberland
and our physical room are connected?
Or the magic of videos and slides and
YouTube movies appear on our screens
so effortlessly?

A special shoutout this week goes to
our mighty Video Tech team!
 This is a
team that arrives at the break of dawn
to set up equipment and ensures all is
in place for our morning meetings.
Coordination, timing, and teamwork
make for an enhanced and focused
meeting. And, by the way, they do it
with a smile even as they work through
issues you never ever hear about!

Thank you, gracias, merci, arigato to
Stephanie, Rob, Justin, Lucy, and Debbie
for making us look good. Your efforts and
dedication are highly appreciated. 👏🏽 💕

upcoming Wednesday meeting to hear all
about his journey.

🌟 July Rotarian of the Month

Bobbie Casalino-Lewis was recognized for
her commitment in bringing cheer to children
at Mar Vista Family Center by exceptionally organizing the children’s lunches on three
consecutive Mondays.

Through Bobbie’s lead, PVS Rotarians
stepped up to ensure MVFC’s boys and girls
at their children’s camp were well fed. A thank
you goes out to Cantalini’s, Lisa Schwab, and
Fat Burger
, Jason Wong, for providing the
yummy food on the designated three Mondays.

Congratulations, Bobbie! 🎉 Thank you
for your continued heart-centered service.❤️

Los Bomberos - Firefighters
Chápala, Mexico

We had the honor of hearing Jim Vuchsas
share the history of PVSR’s early collaboration
with the firefighters of Chápala, Mexico
. The
vision to support this dedicated group of first
responders in a rural region of Mexico came
to life in 2012. When Jim first met the men
from this firehouse, there were only 12
members serving, with very limited
resources and outdated equipment.

Over the past 13 years, PVSR, under Jim's leadership, has played a pivotal role in
helping Los Bomberos grow exponentially—
now 50 strong—equipped with modern gear
and operating state-of-the-art fire trucks.
During the presentation, Rafael Suarez and
Lourdes Sanches joined us via Zoom to thank
us for funds received in the amount of $1,500
to be used for tools and equipment.

Second Saturday Stroll

It’s exciting when a community leader takes
up the reins to revitalize and feature a part
of our city that’s historically important as is
Westchester Triangle.

What began as the long-term vision of
Karen Dial of Drollinger Properties has now
come to life with the debut of the Second
Saturday Stroll
at the Triangle. PVSR came
forward in support of this endeavor by
becoming a sponsor and donating $1,000.
The check was presented to Amy Servidea
Project Supervisor
on behalf of the Second
Saturday Stroll which featured local artists,
great food, and local music. PVSR was proud
to be part of this exciting event! Our booth
invited both children and adults to explore their
creative side by designing their own personalized bookmark and enjoy the ice cream sundaes
served with all toppings. Second Saturday
Stroll was an occasion filled with fun and
community spirit.

Thank you to Gail, Rob, Jan, John, Lindsay,
Bobbie, and Gwen for all their support. And
a shout out to the Stephanie Younger Group
for lending the Club the portable freezer. 🎶🤩

National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual
community-building campaign that
promotes police-community partnerships
and neighborhood camaraderie. This
year’s event took place at the Mar Vista
Recreational Center, drawing community
members and supporters from across
the West side. Our Club was proud to be
present, with our very own Cantalini’s
providing delicious food
and lending
their generous support to ensure the
event’s success. PVSR’s contributions
along with the collective efforts of all
involved, made this gathering a
memorable and meaningful occasion.

We were also honored to welcome
Councilwoman Traci Park to our booth,
where she stopped by to say “hi” and
enjoy a serving of our signature pasta dish.

Thanks to all the volunteers who came
out to be part of this annual event
celebrating our LAPD Pacific Division -
Kathrine, Gwen, Rob, Matthew, Ramona,
Bobbie, Martha, Racquel, Lisa, and Stephanie.
