Welcome to February!
This new year has certainly been full of challenges and as much as I feel saddened by witnessing the immense loss and destruction, I am also really moved by the outpouring of love and generosity I have witnessed not only here in Los Angeles, but all around the country.
I am so proud of our Rotarians for theirtireless efforts towards helping our neighbors who have been impacted by the wildfires.
Thank you to Brady Connell for leading the charge on the Safer Sifting Project!
Your passion and vision has been truly inspiring!
Our club is Providing Support, Hope and Heart by jumping into Action with three other Rotary Clubs in our District to help
those affected by the devastating Wildfires.
Thank you to District 5280, and the Santa Monica, Westwood, Wilshire-Los Angeles clubs for your partnership.

Our Safer Sifting Project provides training as to how to perform sifting safely and a FREE SAFER SIFTING KIT with essential PPE, SIFTER, and additional tools to those families and businesses who have lost their properties. The first Distribution was on Jan 31st. at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica with more dates and information to be announced very soon.
** Please remember Distribution is on a
first come first serve basis and supplies are limited. **
We are so grateful to our local Home Depotthat donated over 200 sifters and to our PVS Rotarians who came out to organize the various parts of the kit for distribution.
We also thank Stephanie Rondeau for arranging a very generous donation of PPE from her employer Vin Di Bona Productions & V10 entertainment, for 460 of the N95 Masks and nearly 70very high quality goggles which will help so many!
Thank you to all our volunteers from all the clubs for so vividly demonstrating “service above self.”

Last week was our Fun and Fabulous Fellowship Meeting and it was full of FUN. We celebrated our January Birthdays!

Thank you to our Original Birthday Fairy, Bobbie, for bringing the FABULOUS! And thank you to Foundation President Gail Goldstein
for baking delicious Lemon Bars to help us celebrate!

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR!
President Gail helped us ring in the Lunar New Year
by sharing with us the characteristics of the Wood Snake – specifically shedding what no longer serves us and making room for something new! (I look forward to that!)
Gail shared some wonderful elements of good fortune by bringing lots of traditional Chinese treats and enhanced our “PIN WIN”
Prizes with red envelopes filled with cash and gift cards!
We appreciated this glimpse into other cultures.
Thank you so much for sharing about the various animals in the Chinese Zodiac and the significance of this “Year of the Snake”.
We announced our December Rotarian of the Month. Congratulations Martha Jeffers for your
leadership and hard work.
We enthusiastically congratulate Carla for winning our 50/50 Raffle. We were down to just 5 cards and the pot reached nearly 3k!
So happy for you Carla! We look forward to presenting you
with your CHECK!!

We welcomed Assistant Governor and District Rotaract Advisor, Shirin, who shared with us the origin of the "Foster the Love Project" and opportunities to join the duffle bag decorating event this past Saturday. Shirin shared with us that it is not unusual for a foster
child to be told they are being moved to another home without any notice and must gather their belongings in trash bags.
The purpose of this program is to provide these kids with a beautiful duffle bag that they can use to transport their belongings
when necessary. We are so proud to be a sponsor
of such a truly meaningful project.
Several members were able to attend - Thank you Dean & Susan, Kathrine, Marsha, Brady and Gwen for representing our club on February 1 at Da Vinci High School.
Over 200 volunteers showed up to assemble bikes and
skateboards and paint duffle bags with love for foster youth.
Hands on Service Project.
This Wednesday, we will also put together some valentine gifts for the volunteers from Westside Pacific Village who serve our Seniors. And on the 12th, we will assemble treats bags for the
seniors to be delivered on Valentine’s Day!
