Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,

Our Teacher Mini Grants meeting was amazing! Twenty-two schools received over $16,000 in grants to help local students. Special thanks to our application readers: Lindsay Thomas, Sean Story, Nora MacLellan, Delia Chi, and Garrett Smith. Thank you Gwen Vuchsas and Garrett Smith for initiating such a long-running successful program... we’re all so proud of our club that we have a program making such a meaningful difference in children’s lives.

It was a weekend of peace at the World Peace Conference in Ontario – thank you Lucy Wegner, Joe Chehade, Rob DeCou, Lindsay Thomas, Bonnie Cullinan, Marsha Wietecha, and Peggy Glattes for representing Playa Venice. We want to hear about it tomorrow!

The district Rotary Day of Service is this Saturday, Jan 25 – dozens of clubs are coming together to pack food at the LA Regional Food Bank. If you missed the food packing event a few months ago, or want to do it again – now’s your chance to participate in a similarly fun and impactful event. Don’t sign up on our club website - sign up directly at www.rotary5280.org.

The Pageant of the Arts club competition is Feb 8. High-schoolers talented in art, dance, music, or speech should fill out an application right now at our club website www.playavenice.org.

Reminder: BINGOFEST March 7

Very important: the District Conference is April 30-May 3 at the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa. If you’re even thinking of attending, you should register now so you have a spot. It’s a blast, and we’d love to have lots of members there. The club does not pay your way – cost right now is $98 (plus hotel), but it goes up to $150 on Jan 31. You can always change your mind and get a refund before the end of March, or pass it off to another member. Register directly at the district page https://www.rotary5280districtconference.comDo it now!

Tomorrowwe get to hear from new member Carla Dickerson – she’ll tell us all about her life and career in her club craft talk. Go Carla!

Tomorrow the RAFFLE POT WILL BE OVER $2,300! What?! Be sure to get a raffle ticket tomorrow from Marsha!
