As March comes to a close, we take a
moment to reflect on Women’s History
Month and the impact of women in our
own Rotary story. From educators and
leaders to volunteers and changemakers, women play a vital role in shaping a more
inclusive and compassionate world. This
month invites us not only to reflect on
those contributions, but to carry that
spirit forward—well beyond March.

Dave laced up and hit the pavement for the
5K in support of the runners and young
people representing their schools—proving
that Rotarians can, in fact, run!
In recognition of his effort (and endurance!), Courtney awarded and presented Dave with

those inspiring words, she proudly pinned John

Dr. Shawna Draxton - Executive
Director, WISH Charter Schools
Dr. Shawna Draxton shared how WISH continues
to maximize each student’s potential through
a caring, inclusive, and academically rigorous
environment. She highlighted evidence-based
teaching, hands-on learning, and a collaborative
“whole-scholar” approach from TK–12.
Her remarks reinforced WISH’s commitment to
inclusivity, strong community partnerships, and
preparing students for lifelong success.
It was an inspiring morning as our club reflected
on having followed the growth of WISH Charter
Schools from its inception. The evolution and
diversity of the school community today are
truly impressive.

District Breakfast Highlights
Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary was well represented
at the District Breakfast, led by the inspiring youth
of District 5280. Interact Clubs from high schools
including El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Larchmont,

Four student representatives shared highlights
of their club initiatives, programs, and district
involvement, while two additional students spoke

Rotarians Around Town
Elk's Women Luncheon
& Fashion Show
A table for eight was filled with Rotarian friends
in support of the Elk’s Women Fashion Show
"Runway for the Roses," raising funds for their scholarship program. Our very own Bobbi served
as the narrator of the fashion show and brought
her creative flair by curating and providing the
clothing, beautifully styling each model.
It was an afternoon of fellowship, fun, and
giving back. Several at our table even walked
away with winning prizes—always a
fashionable bonus!
