Dear Rotarians and Friends,
At Playa Venice, there is something for every taste and the activities don’t seem to stop! Here’s for example, “just another weekend” in the life of our Club:
On Saturday morning, I joined Governor Olivia and the Club Presidents in an informal“check-in” at the historic Centinela Adobe in Inglewood. Governor Olivia would like every Rotarian and their families to join this year’s District Conference from May 4 to May 7 in a beautiful resort in the Desert. Don’t get discouraged by the word “Conference.” We will celebrate a year of service in a mostly fun-filled event including a pool party, Scavenger hunt and a Pajama Game night! You’ll get to experience Rotary at a much bigger level and make new friends!
On Saturday afternoon, Brady Connell, Senior Assistant Governor for membership led a very informative and well researched workshop! Thanks Brady!
On Sunday afternoon, while one group was serving dinner to the homeless in Skid Row, the other group was enjoying a classy Opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion!
Truly Grateful and Proud to be part of our diverse and dynamic Family!
Joe Chehade - Club President

LAST WEEKEND
THE MIDNIGHT MISSION
Our first post-Covid service trip to Downtown to serve dinner in Skid Row at the Midnight Mission. It was a much needed service. We were thanked by everyone and they asked us to come back. We will!
Later, we had a fellowship dinner at the famous Philippe the Original, home of the French Dipped Sandwich!
MEMBERSHIP SUMMIT
Gwen Vuchsas wrote on Facebook:
Thank you to Brady Connell for setting up and presenting the District Membership Summit this past weekend! Very informative and well attended. We learned that Playa Venice Sunrise is doing a lot of things ``right”! It was held at the new LAX Airport Police Station and we got a tour of this magnificent new facility. PVS was well represented with Brady at the helm, President Joe, John Buckley, Hilton Brown, LaVonne Lawson, Tracey Thompson-Busa and Gwen.
THE OPERA SUNDAY
Tracey Thompson Busa writes:
Fellow Rotarians got to experience another amazing performance at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Sunday. Nine of us attended the Marriage of Figaro which was truly a delight and inspiration of Mozart’s music and humorous wit. It is considered one of the greatest operas ever written. Afterwards several of us shared a wonderful dinner at Superba Food & Bread in Venice. Thank you Lucy for spearheading another cultural outing for our club!
