Garett Collins Rotary Scholar
It is with great pride and enthusiasm that PVSR
will be serving as the sponsoring Rotary club
for Garett Collins as he pursues his graduate studies at the University of Dublin in Ireland.
He has applied for the Rotary Global Scholarship
which provides approximately $30,000+ for one
year of graduate-level study abroad in one of
Rotary’s seven focus areas, including peace-building,
disease prevention, and education. Recipients
demonstrate leadership, community service, and
alignment with Rotary’s mission
through local Rotary clubs.

Kelly Younger - Speaker Extraordinaire
Kelly Younger’s talk left us wanting more as he
shared highlights from his experience as a Rotary
Scholar at Dublin University in Ireland. It was
fascinating to hear how welcomed and supported
he felt by the many Rotary clubs he visited
throughout Ireland and Europe. Those experiences
left him with lasting, warm memories of both
Rotary and the education he received. He went on
to earn his PhD before landing at Disney, where
he now writes for The Muppets.
Kelly also shared how living in El Segundo—home
to the beloved holiday tradition Candy Cane Lane— inspired him to write and create the film Candy
Cane Lane, starring Eddie Murphy.
His stories set the tone for a morning filled with
great energy and inspiration.

PVSR Teacher Mini Grants in Action
The Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Club’s recent
Teacher Mini Grants are already making a
difference at St. Anastasia School. The grants
are supporting classroom learning, expanding
resources for learning specialists, adding new
books to the school library, and even improving
the home of the school’s beloved bearded
dragon, Spike 🦎.
These funds help teachers bring creativity and
enrichment into their classrooms while creating
more engaging and supportive learning
environments for students. We’re proud to
partner with local educators and invest in the
success of our community’s schools.
