Students who were unable to attend the
PVSR Scholarship Gala joined us at last week’s

earned $1,200 scholarships. Accompanied
by family members, Hayden McMahon and
Thomas “Tommy” Spaulding shared their
gratitude for this honor and spoke about
their future goals and aspirations.

School, will be attending the University of
California, Davis, where she plans to pursue
a degree in Environmental Engineering.
Thomas “Tommy,” a graduate of Redondo
Union High School, will be attending the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT), studying Mechanical Engineering
and Business Administration.
Congratulations to these outstanding
students. On behalf of Playa Venice
Sunrise Rotary, we wish you every
success as you begin this exciting
new chapter. Your hard work, dedication,

Celebrating Service and Leadership🏆

As part of our year-end celebration,
members of both the Playa Venice Sunrise
Rotary Board of Directors and Foundation
Board, along with other members who made
significant contributions throughout the
year, were recognized with certificates of
appreciation and a special gift in gratitude
for their service and support.
Martha and Gwen, as Co-Presidents, were
honored to acknowledge these dedicated
leaders whose commitment, guidance, and
countless contributions have been invaluable
to the success of our club. We thank them
for the time, energy, and leadership they
have invested in helping PVSR grow, thrive,
and serve our community.

As Well as Kudos VIA ZOOM!

Three special awards were presented to
Rotarians whose extraordinary contributions
deserved special recognition. Janet Landon
received the Rookie of the Year Award,
Dave Johnston was honored with the Spirit
Award, and John Buckley received the
Generosity Award. Their enthusiasm,
service, and dedication embody the very
best of Rotary and help make Playa Venice
Sunrise Rotary the vibrant club it is today.

The Power of Showing up!
Attendance is more than being present—it is
a commitment to fellowship, service, and the
success of our club. This year, we are proud to
recognize five members who achieved 100%
attendance. Congratulations to Rob, Lisa, Gwen,
Stephanie, and Matthew for their outstanding
dedication. Your commitment helps make Playa
Venice Sunrise Rotary the vibrant and
impactful club it is today!

Rotary Youth Exchange:
Building Global Friendships🌎💙
Rotary Youth Exchange reminds us that
friendships can span continents and cultures.
PVSR members Ramona and Janet Landon
recently hosted Rotary Youth Exchange
students during their Los Angeles visit.

Ramona welcomed Ava D. Hooge
from France🇫🇷 and Faustine Moisse
from Belgium🇧🇪, while Janet hosted
Ravi from Germany🇩🇪.
After spending 10 months with host families
in Utah, the students enjoyed exploring
Los Angeles, including visits to the Manhattan
Beach Pier, local restaurants, the FIFA Fan
Fest at the Coliseum, and time together
sharing stories and experiences.
Their visit was a wonderful reminder that
Rotary Youth Exchange helps young people
build lifelong friendships, broaden their
perspectives, and return home with a
deeper understanding of the world.

Rotarians Around Town
🍽️Dining out for a Good Cause❤️

Thirteen PVSR members came together for
an evening of fellowship, great food, and
community to raise funds for the Westchester
Family YMCA at Truxton’s American Bistro.
Simply by presenting the fundraiser flyer,
members helped the cause while enjoying
a delicious meal together.
It’s always rewarding to support the local
businesses while giving back to an
organization that serves our community.

Marsha Wietecha - From the
Stands to the Spotlight

For nearly 30 years, Marsha Wietecha has
been a devoted LA Sparks fan, attending
the team’s first game with her husband,
Butch, in 1997 and holding season tickets
ever since.
Recently, the Sparks invited her to be
interviewed as part of their 30th anniversary
celebration. While at their Culver City offices,
she could see Hillside Memorial Park, where
Butch is buried, and felt his presence with
her during this special moment.
Marsha will be receiving a commemorative
Sparks Jacket—a fitting tribute to a loyal fan
and a lifetime of Sparks memories.
Congratulations, Marsha!
