🌟 It Takes a Village… and Ours Likes to Get Things Done (and Have Fun)! 🌟
They say it takes a village — and ours comes
with heart, hustle, and just the right amount of humor. Whether showing up early, staying late,
or simply cheering from the sidelines, our
members bring passion and purpose to
everything we do.
This week’s edition is a shoutout to the
teamwork, laughter, and service that fuel
PVSR. From parades to pins, fundraisers
to fellowship, we show up — together.
Because when we come together as a team,
we don’t just grow… we glow. 💙✨

🎤 Speaker of the Week:
Emerson Community Garden
Tracy Conyers
Tracy Conyers, Past President and Board
of Directors for the Emerson Avenue Community Garden, is our speaker for this week’s meeting. The Emerson Community Garden is focused on education and community building, recognizing
that just as biodiversity is critical to a healthy ecosystem, diversity in people and perspectives
make their organization and our
community stronger.
EACGC is committed to creating an environment
in their garden where everyone’s voice is heard,
and everyone feels safe and welcome.
Last Week's Meeting
Professional Readiness Scholarship
It was a true honor to award Strahlia Durr the
$1,000 Second Year, Professional Readiness Scholarship, sponsored by John Buckley.
This scholarship supports worthy students
throughout their college journey. Now entering
her second year at Union College, Strahlia

and will complete EMT training this August.
We’re proud to support her continued growth
and dedication.
June Rotarians of the Month
🎉 Becky Reilly-Francis & Justin Furtado
This dynamic duo has poured their time,
energy, and talents into making our Club
stronger, more connected, and a whole lot
more fun. From stepping up when it counts to
quietly getting things done behind the scenes,
their dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Both are more than worthy of this recognition
— and we’re lucky to have them on our team.
Bravo, June stars! 👏

Serving Up Smiles at Mar Vista Family Center Lunch
We had a wonderful time hosting lunch for the kids at Mar Vista Family Center. Bobbie, Steph, Jim, Lucia, and Gwen teamed up to serve a fun and tasty meal—baby burritos with chips from Sr. G’s, fresh salad from Cantalini’s, and cookies for dessert. The kids also enjoyed baby bananas and orange slices on the side.
As part of our visit, we were proud to present a
check in the amount of $1,250 to Lucia Diaz in support of the great work happening at MVFC.
It was a joyful afternoon filled with connection, community, and lots of happy faces.

Service Above Self Award Honors "Vision
to Learn" Leader, Nora MacLellan
Congratulations to PVSR Rotarian, Nora
MacLellan, recipient of the Rotary Club of
La Quinta’s Service Above Self Award for
her continued leadership on the Vision To
Learn project—bringing free eye care
to children in need.
Founded in 2012, Vision To Learn now operates in
17 states and D.C. Thanks to Rotary’s support,
the program expanded to Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in 2021, with a blanket
MOU covering all local school districts.
This year’s project in Blythe provided nearly
1,800 students with vision screenings. Over
600 received eye exams, and nearly 500 were
given free glasses—funded by RAP Foundation, Rotary Districts 5280 and 5330, and supported
by the Rotary Clubs of La Quinta and Rotary
Club of Blythe.
