* Last Week's Meeting * ❤️ Our Teamwork Does
Make the Dream Work!❤️
Last week was action packed and there were a lot of moving parts - especially last Wednesday, as we witnessed the power of teamwork and our ability to quickly pivot, due in part by the last minute room change at our weekly venue. Thank you to everyone who helped to make our
meeting a success.
We welcomed District Governor, Albert Hernandez, and his team, Chief of Staff, Glenn Gomez, Assistant Governor, Nancy Weisel, along with other district leaders and PDGs - so much Rotary love and passion for our Club and our many successful
projects and programs!!
We thank all who were able to attend, especially our friends PDG Olivia Patterson-Ryans and PDG Dr. Vicki Radel. We had a truly wonderful visit and our club showed great spirit donning their Dodger Jerseys and hats. We were a sea of Blue! We thank the Governor for his very inspirational comments and words of encouragement and we loved the opportunity to spend time with him and his team. We had so much fun lavishing him with Dodger themed gifts along with some cool Club swag!
We Thank DGE Alex Parajon for joining us - it was very meaningful for our club to see the dynamic succession of District Governors in our midst, which includes our very own Brady Connell, DGN, slated to be Governor for 2026-2027.
We also heard from Scott Culbertson, Executive Director of the Friends of Ballona Wetlands who gave us a snapshot of the progression of restoration for our precious wetlands and the exciting programs they have been able to provide to our school children and beyond. We were proud to present him with a check in support of their upcoming fundraiser, Moonlight on the Marsh, happening on October 5th. Thank you Scott and the “Friends” for your dedication and stewardship!
PVSR was a proud sponsor of the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting featuring keynote speaker, Councilwoman Traci Park!
Great to hear about the positive changes
being made in our district!

❤️ WAM BLOCK PARTY! ❤️
Our Club was out in force at this year’s WAM event - The Westchester Arts and Music Festival. Our booth was super popular and a big hit with the kids who painted kindness rocks, so popular, that we ran out of rocks! We also applied hundreds of temporary tattoos, handed out pencil pouches and Pancake Breakfast Flyers and info about our club. Thank you to our Director of Community Service, Martha Jeffers, and her incredible crew: Becky Reilly, John Buckley, Mary-Catherine Micka, Lucy Wegner, Marsha Wietecha, Lucia Diaz, Brady Connell, Addy O’Donoghue, Gwen Vuchsas and a special thank you to Hilton Brown who arrived at 9:30am, stayed the entire day and did the heavy lifting to close up shop! Great job everyone!! WAM was a great success this year! Shout out to Courtney O’Donoghue and Geoff Taylor of the Stephanie Younger Group, who have taken over producing the WAM event.
