Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Thinking of Howard, the word that comes to mind is "Grateful" for who he was and what he did as a Rotarian. That's why, I'm sharing few happy pictures that make our hearts smile:
Coming up this Wednesday
This Wednesday, Dave Voss, who was inducted into Rotary at the same time as Howard, will speak on him._

Progressive Dinner
We are going ahead with our Progressive Dinner this Friday, in the spirit that it’s good to be together!
Maria Davis writes:
Friday night, October 28 is another special holiday event, The Progressive Dinner. Please plan to attend in Halloween costume (or not) starting at 6:00 pm at the home of James and Racquel Frawley for appetizers and libations. Then there is a short walk to the home of Joe and Maria Davis for the main meal….some delicious tacos and Margaritas…Dessert will be offered at the home of Larry Plotkin and Diane Barreti, which will be a super delicious way to end a very fun evening. These are all adult only activities.
Sign up with Maria Davis. The cost is $20 per person or $35 per couple.

Bring a Friend to Rotary
Is Next Wednesday November 2
Have you invited a friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor yet? Here are some thoughts:
-How do you invite someone to join Rotary? Just ask
-"We’re looking for people who want to give back to their communities."
-One elaborate elevator speech on who we are as Rotarians: “We are people who take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves. We have much fun in the process of doing that. Would you consider joining us for breakfast?”
We have an eloquent speaker for that day: Los Angeles Airport Police Chief Cecil Rhambo. Our membership committee is preparing an informative program to explain Rotary!
Arabian Nights
(More pictures another time)
Our Cultural dinner was probably one of the most successful, not just from the fundraising aspect but as a whole experience: food, decor, program, etc. We will get a full report during the meeting. We are thankful to the committee and many others who worked tirelessly for days and weeks to make it happen!
Walk to end Alzheimer’s
On Sunday Morning, Kristen Hemanes lead a team to volunteer and walk to support research to help end Alzheimer’s. Grateful for the participation of Ramona, Gwen, Vida, Irene, Rob, Peter, Ray, Glenn and of course Kristen. Glenn prepared a beautiful video about the event that we will watch on Wednesday!
Honor Flights
Last week was the second flight to honor our vets with a a trip to Washington DC. Thank you Peter for driving the truck and Bonnie for donating the truck and storing the wheelchairs! Grateful for Melissa, Gwen, Jim, Ray, Garret, Martha for being there at night! Kiev, the son of Ray and Carmina Morales, welcomed the vets with his violin. He touched everyone’s heart with his Star Spangled tune!
Visitation Church Carnival
For 3 days, our Rotarians had a booth with Face painting and tattoos. We also served dinner and pizza. It was great to be helping the community and helping Visitation who are very generous in giving us their halls for our events at no charge!
