Dear Rotarians and Friends,
Last Wednesday, Ramona started our meeting with an inspiration about “A Joyful Heart” and Dave ended it, speaking from his heart about Howard, the happy and loving Rotarian!
I left the meeting with a sense of gratitude for being part of my Rotary family and for having known Howard. To honor him, I decided to try doing like him and spreading Joy around me. So, several times this week, I asked myself “What Would Howard Do?” and the answer was to be more generous at times, to spread happiness at others, or to be more patient. Every time “I lost myself” to make another person happy, I felt a deep sense of Joy!
The following day, at the progressive dinner, I saw how much the 3 families that hosted us, did exactly that! Theyput a smile on our lips and in our hearts! Thank you James and Racquel Frawley, Joe & Maria Davis, Larry Plotkin & Diane Barretti!
This genuine Joy is what we usually call a “Rotary Moment.” It’s a feeling difficult to describe but it happens when we lose ourselves for others.
Helen Keller once said:”There is Joy is self-forgetfulness. So, I try to make the light in other’s eyes my sun, the music in others’ ears my symphony, the smile on others’ lips my happiness,”

Coming up this Wednesday
We are honored to welcome the Chief of Airport police Cecil Rhambo as our speaker! He will update us on the latest community news and address the homeless crisis. We will have a chance to ask him questions at the end.
This week is also “Bring a Friend to Rotary meeting.” We’re looking forward to welcoming friends who want to know more about Rotary!

Progressive Dinner
Gwen Vuchsas writes
Dinner was tons of fun! Great costumes food and fellowship. First stop was at James & Racquel Frawley’ home for appetizers, main entree at Joe & Maria Davis’ and delicious desserts at Larry Plotkin & Diane Barretti’s. It was Lauren Palermo’s birthday and we sang “Happy Birthday” to her at the Plotkin home! We had quite a group with Snow White, aliens, Cruella de Vil, Pink Ladies, pilots, Trojans, a bull, a farmer, Princess Leia, angels and a soldier! Happy Halloween
