September is full of meaningful holidays and observances—so many, in fact, that we’d run
out of space if we listed them all! A few to
note include:
• Hispanic Heritage Month
• September 11, 2001 Remembrance
• National Suicide Prevention
Awareness Month
And then there are the lighter observances
that bring a smile:
• National Neither Snow Nor Rain Day
• National Salami Day
• National Ampersand Day
• National Beer Lovers Day
To name just a few!
In the midst of these reminders—both
serious and lighthearted—we are called to
pause, reflect, serve, and celebrate in ways
that touch our very core. Rotary gives us a
place to find balance, connection, and
purpose, bringing together a community
that embraces diversity and service
from the ❤️.

🎤 This Week's Speaker:
Scott Culbertson - Executive Director, Friends of Ballona Wetlands
This week we are honored to welcome fellow member Scottwho will share a little bit about
himself and give us an update on the status
of our beloved wetlands.
Scott’s passion for education, youth, and the
environment brought him to the nonprofit
sector, where he dedicated over ten years
efforts to preserve and protect one of our
region’s most important ecological treasures.
Please join us in welcoming Scottthis
Wednesday when we present him with PVSR sponsorship check of $2,000 in support of
their fundraiser, Moonlight on the Marsh,

Natalia Shoemaker - Craft Talk
It is always a special treat to learn more
about our fellow Rotarians, and last week’s
presentation from Natalie was no exception.
Each time one of us steps up to the podium,
we witness the courage it takes to share our
personal story. Natalie did a wonderful job
bringing us into her world—sharing about her
family, her journey, and the passions that
light her up. A heartfelt thank you to Natalie
for honoring us with a meaningful snapshot
of who she is.

Venice High Intaract Club Shines
at RYLA's Youth Social
Students from District 5280 Interact clubs
were out in full force at Saturday’s youth
social — and Venice High was right there
with them!
Students were especially excited about Adopt
A Family, an event other Interact clubs are
eager to join as well.
This Tuesday, Ray Morales will be visiting Venice
High to welcome their new members and fill
them in on the many upcoming Rotary events
they can be part of.
Additionally, three students sponsored by
PVSR have registered and will be attending
the 2025 RYLA Youth Leadership Assembly
on October 10-12. Congratulations Venice
students! Expect to have an incredible time
at the camp nestled high in the
San Bernardino mountains.

Second Saturday Stroll
What a sweet afternoon at the Westchester
Triangle! Families and friends strolled together, enjoying live music, local art, and of course —
ice cream expertly scooped by our very own Rotarians, Rob and Evan. Guests of all ages
treated themselves to vanilla and chocolate
sundaes piled high with toppings, sauces,
and whipped cream.
A special visit from our Cultural Dinner
honoree, Stephanie Sampson.
A shout-out to Linda Soto for the incredible
ice cream balloon creation — it was the cherry
on top and truly made the event shine!
A big thank you to the PVS Rotarians who
helped make the ice cream “social” such a
success: Gail, Rob, Evan, Dave, Janet
Landon, Linda Soto, Mark Williamson, Garrett Smith, Matthew, Jan, Kathrine,
Gwen, Martha, and Courtney.
