Dear Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
If you know a high-schooler talented in art, dance, music, or speech, they could win $1,000 from the district
Pageant of the Arts competition. Applications for the club competition are due in 3 days! Go to
www.playavenice.org to apply. The club-sponsored competition is Feb 8. If you are interested in being a judge let Lindsay Thomas know right away!
Thank you John Sharpe, Melissa Moore, and Bonnie Cullinan (and daughter!) for volunteering your Saturday morning at the LA Food Bank as part of the district’s Rotary Day of Service. Quote from John: “It was one of the most collaborative, rewarding, and fun Rotary events I’ve ever done. It rivaled Habitat for Humanity!” We’ll be sure to get an even bigger group together the next time this opportunity comes up!
Thanks to everyone who visited Past Rotary International President Barry Rassin at the Beverly Hills club on Monday: Jerry Jen, Rob DeCou, Joerg Rose, Kathrine Russell, Gail Brooks, Tore Knos, Carla Dickerson and Juliet Oman. Looking forward to hearing about it tomorrow.
Feb 24 is the due date for placing an ad in the
Hometown News for our special annual
Playa Venice Rotary edition. It’s a great opportunity to show the community you’re a PVS Rotarian!

Our BINGOFEST fundraiser is coming! It’s March 7 at the newly renovated Visitation School gym. If you have auction items to donate, especially gift certificates ($25 and up), let Tracey Thompson Busa know. And let Gwen know if you’d like to sponsor a game. It’s a great night - Mr. Jameson will be there!
REGISTER NOW for the
District Conference April 30-May 3 at the Lake Arrowhead Resort & Spa. The price is $98 but goes up to $150
this Friday. It’s a great weekend of club and district fellowship - we’d love to have a big group attend. Register directly at the district page
https://www.rotary5280districtconference.com. Do it now!
Thank you Carla Dickerson for sharing your craft talk with us last week. This week we will be visited by Brianne Gilbert fromLMU’s Center for the Study of Los Angeles. It should be a very informative meeting where we’ll hear about the latest research on the biggest issues facing Los Angeles and our community.
Tomorrow the RAFFLE POT WILL BE OVER $2,700! Crazy! Be sure to get a raffle ticket from Marsha!
