As we enter this season of gratitude, we give
thanks for our Rotary community — for the friendships we’ve built and the service we’ve
shared. May the weeks ahead continue to
remind us that gratitude grows
through giving.

👻 Busy Hands, Happy Hearts 🥰
Busy hands and generous hearts were at work
as many of our members filled Halloween bags
with candy, coloring books, crayons, and pens
for the children at the Mar Vista Family Center.
After all, what is Halloween without the treats
that bring joy and smiles to children’s faces?
It was a fun and heartwarming effort that
truly captured the spirit of service — and a spook-tacular treat handing 80 bags of
sweets to Lucia Diaz, CEO Mar Vista
Family Center. 🎃

Jackets of Excellence - Venice High School
Our club is proud to once again be supporting
the Jackets of Excellence program at Venice
High School through our donation to the Venice Chamber of Commerce, which provides funding
to purchase letterman jackets for
deserving students.
These jackets are awarded to students who
exemplify academic excellence, school pride,
and the spirit of the Gondos. Justin Furtado,
PVSR Youth Services, presented the $1,000
check to Chantel Hunter-Mah, Chair of the
Venice Chamber of Commerce Education
Committee. Joining in the presentation were Karin Wallerstein, President of the Chamber,
and from Venice High School Yavonka
Hairston-Truitt, Principal and Ernesto
Guerrero - Assistant Principal.
At the conclusion of the presentation, several
of our members were so inspired they pledged
an additional $1,375 to this impactful program.

What a Thrill to Welcome Sam Lagana!
What a joy it was to have Sam Lagana,
the voice of the Rams, with us last week! Sam inspired us all as he shared an up-close
and personal look at his journey to becoming
a true icon in our community — through his
deep involvement in his beloved Pacific
Palisades and Malibu, his faith, and his
commitment to education. It was a thrill
to hear his story and to be reminded of
the power of passion, purpose,
and community spirit.

Rotary Foundation Celebration
Aboard the USS Iowa
The Iowa class was a group of six fast
battleships ordered by the United States
Navy in 1939 and 1940. Deactivated in
1992, the USS Iowa now proudly serves
as a museum in California — and this
year, it became the extraordinary venue
for our Rotary Foundation Celebration.
On a warm California afternoon, approximately 350 Rotarians from District 5280 gathered
aboard the historic ship to enjoy fellowship,
live music, and delicious food. PVSR was
honored among a select group of clubs
recognized as 100% Paul Harris Fellow
Clubs — a distinction we can all
take pride in!
Attending this memorable event were ten of
our members: Susan, Dean, Lisa, Stephanie, Kathrine, Lucy, Ramona, Evan, Dave,
and Martha.
A special thank-you to Gail Goldstein and Dean Reuter for their generosity in making
it possible for several of our members to
attend and share in this wonderful
experience.

Scoops of Joy at
Mar Vista Family Center
There’s nothing quite like the joy on a child’s
face when they see a cup filled with delicious
ice cream. Members of our club brought that
happiness to life by serving approximately 80 children at the Mar Vista Family Center.
Thursday became a special Halloween treat for
these kids as Gwen, Bobbie, Dave, and Lucia scooped vanilla ice cream, sharing smiles,
laughter, and a little sweetness with our
community’s youngest members.

Rotarians Around Town
Congratulations to Bobbie on her first rowing
race in Marina del Rey this past Sunday! Her
boat came in second place, an impressive
feat considering her team had never rowed
together in that boat before. Well done!
