Playa Venice seves meals to over 125 homeless people.

November 26th was Thanksgiving on Saturday. Under the leadership of Tom (I can get it for free) Ryan and his incomparable committee we were able to get food to feed over 125 homeless people and still have left overs to donate to another charity feeding the needy. Rotarians roasted the donated turkeys to combine with rolls, cranberry sauce, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, pies, cookies and punch. No one dared complain that they didn't get enough food because President Gail would pop up with another full plate if someone even burped. Not only were we able to serve seconds, we sent many away with “to go” plates. The only negative of the day was that the plates were barely strong enough to hold all the food (actually President Gail threw a drum stick through a plate! She has a black belt in serving food.) As our guests left we were showered with “thank yous” and “god bless yous,” but the most gratifying comment was, “I couldn't eat another bite!” Our newest friend, Carson Bond, joined us and worked the whole day along side of our Interactors. Christian Culton even played guitar for all present. Thank you Carson, Interact and Christian. Congratulations Rotarians, you all stood tall on this Saturday.
