Each week President Jim will offer his thoughts to Tony Ciancimino who in turn will share them with his fellow Rotarians and friends of the Club.

Dear fellow Rotarians and friends,

ImageThis week's meeting carried a full agenda and many new friends as we had another successful "Bring a Friend to Rotary." meeting. To those Rotarians who extended themselves to bring guest this week please accept my personal thanks. After a brief Rotary International and Club overview, we watched out updated Club video about our activities. It is truly amazing the number of things we accomplish over a year. Tom Ryan talked about Thanksgiving on Saturday, Gail Goldstein about our Adopt a Family program and Gwen Vuchsas about Teacher Mini Grants, to provide some greater depth of a few of the things we do. Again my thanks to them for sharing with the attendees.

In addition to guests of Rotarians , our Santa Monica favorite Larry Mortoff,  we had strategist and superb boat builderImage Jessica Voss join us this week. The Voss presence gave President Bear, Jim, the opportunity to acknowledge their efforts on behalf of the Club. Jim Thanked Jessie and gave her a gift card card to her favorite store. The famous
Order of the Bear" was bestowed on David. Both seemed touched by President Jim's thoughtfulness. Additional thanks to David for updating our Club brochre which we handed out at this weeks meeting. I looks great David!

ImageTore Knos announced that the Animo Venice Interact Club will be meeting at his house at 4:00 PM this Friday to make low cost water purification evaluation devises (WAPIs.) This is just one more event in the full list of recent Interact activities. Last Friday a group joined Rotarians at the Dodger Games in support of Polio Plus. The next day they gathered at Ballona Creek for a clean up effort. Attendees were rewarded with Italian Soul Food (pizza) from President Jim and Cantalini's. They also got over $100 worth of new Interact tee shirts courtesy of Gail Goldstein and Control Printing. Thanks to Don Culton, Katie Litsey and Gwen Vuchsas for photos from recent Interact events. It allowed us to put together a new Interact video which were premiered at both Interact and Rotary meetings this week. Katie and Don have teamed with teacher/mentor Beth Abronson and the Interact leadership to kick off the new year in great fashion. We couldn't be more proud ofImage them!

President Jim asked Dan if 9/20 was a significant day for the Kolodziejski family. Dan proudly revealed that it was worth a $100 brag to acknowledge his 25th anniversary with his bride Arlene. Then Sherlock Vuchsas asked Tammie Bean if she didn't just return from a vacation, which she commemorated with a $25 brag.

No winner in the 50/50 drawing this week so the total went up $90 to total $750 for next week's meeting. It's getting interesting!

Speaking of growing amounts the Rotary Change for Rotary Changes jar is getting pretty heavy again, thank toImage Rotarian generosity. President Elect Tom Carson is shown adding to the total. The kids at St. Judes appreciates the effort.

It's push time for Carnival Playa Venice Rio style on 10/18. Details are on  the web site Homepage. Invites will be ready this week. Let me know if you want a copy of the flyer to print out or send out electronically.

Thanks to Don Culton for this week's meeting photos.
