Success Through Teamwork 4/24/13
Dear fellow Rotarians and friends,
We had a great crowd this week. Guests, new members and old friends made up an energy filled group. Larry Mortoff from Santa Monica stopped in. Howard Pollack had long time supplier Doug from Nature's Best visit. Christina Davis brought special guest Blair McBirney from The Westchester Family YMCA. We don't get to see Kip Kolodziejski often enough so we were very pleased to have him with us to help celebrate Nate Richards'installation. He joined Margret Kubiak as our two newest members. Good friend Linda Black, Sr. AG from Culver City graced us as our installing officer. We were very pleased to have District Membership Chair Jerry Brown attend to help us celebrate a very special day for our Club.
We welcomed sponsors Dan Kolodziejski (Nate Richards) and Kathrine Russell (Margaret Kubiak) and their membership candidates and Linda Black at the podium. Linda offered very gracious and generous comments about our Club and then installed Nate and Margaret as our 47th and 48th members. Prior to this week 46 members had been our high water mark. Dan and Katherine were asked to pin on the Rotary pins and give a short idea why they thought of Nate and Margaret as potential Rotarians. We were quite moved by the sponsor statements. It was a historic and highly memorable day for us. I, for one, couldn't be prouder of our Club! We'll hit 50 members before the end of this Rotary year and President Jim's term.
President Jim presented Bobbie and Sam with their official meeting badges. Naturally that cost sponsors Gwen and Gail (in absentia) $5.00 each. Since we were throwing around the big brags, David Voss calculated that he was getting away quite cost effectively with a $5 brag for his mother-in-law's upcoming garden show. Smart man that David! While in a mood for noting important milestones Rachel Sunday mentioned, with pride, that she would soon be moving into her new office in Playa del Rey on the corner of Falmouth and Manchester. She'll be dispensing help and information on employee benefits from this new spot and contributed $50 to brag. She also noted, also with great pride, that her daughter Haley has caught the Rotary spirit and has become quite involved in her Rotaract Club at Sonoma State! Mr. Generosity, Howard Pollack advised the Club that he recently celebrated his best day ever at Rainbow Acres and marked the occasion with a $100 brag going to our Foundation!
We did a brief review of the capabilities and features of our website. Attached to this bulletin is a "cheat sheet" to help some of those of us not familiar with negotiating the site. We have also posted downloadable information on how to send an email from the site (which can be reached by entering the address, Playasunrise.org) If anyone has questions or problems accessing the site, please let me know. It is a great tool that can only be of assistance if utilized!
As you can see we have a full schedule upcoming. Many hands make for a lighter load!
Please note, the photos of the 4/21 Car Rally that were sent to me have been posted on our Homepage. If you have shots that you would like to have included, simply send them to me and we will update the site.
Once again, no one pulled the ace of spades in the 50/50 drawing, so $1810. carries over to next week.
Thanks to Don Culton for taking pictures this week!
