Each week President Jim will share his thoughts about that week's meeting with Tony Ciancimino who will pass them on to members and friends. This week we enjoyed craft talks by Bobbie Casalino-Lewis and Monica Trepany and the opportunity to learn more about them!

Dear Rotarians and friends,

ImageThis week we welcomed visiting Rotarian Cherie Allen from Mansfield,  Mass. and special guest Nate Richards. We are very happy to note that Nate's status will change next week. Good friend of the Club, District AG Linda Black from Culver City will be with us to help make this happen! Be there to welcome Nate and say hi to Linda.

Our two craft talk presenters, Bobbie Casalino-Lewis and Monica Trepany had a common thread. Without collusion, they both, in different words, told us that they had achieved gratification and success in their professional lives. They had also reached a point in their personal lives, where other commitments having been well met, they could now offer time to "giving back to their community." We are blessed that that have chosen Rotary and in particular our Club, as the vehicle to "give back." It is sentimentsImage like this and dedicated people like Bobbie and Monica that have given great strength to our Club. Yes, we now have 46 going on (next week) 47 members, but numbers are not the cement that holds us together and make us strong. It is the quality of our members, that makes us greater together than as individuals. It was incredibly gratifying to hear visiting Rotarian Cherie recognize that we are both a dedicated and fun loving club.

Katie Butler reported that we will have visiting Japaneses students from Aug. 3 through the 10th. Please let her know if you are able to house one or more of the 5 visitors. While having the floor she reminded the attendees that Animo Venice will be having their Spring Festival April 27th from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Come out and support our partner school!

We have moved our first ever Member Orientation back to May 16th at 6:00 PM at the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce's (9100 So. Sepulveda Blvd.) offices. This free event only requires an RSVP to hold a spot and allow us to plan for food. We'll have adult beverages and pizza. We'll make arrangements for people who have special food needs. Please take advantage of this great opportunity for fellowship and education!

While saving dates please note the upcoming milestones listed below.

Dan Kolodziejski took the floor to brag that his mom, fellow Rotarian Katy Kolodziejski, was again being honored as a volunteer leader. He marked the occasion with $50. Another true brag, backed by a major sigh of relief came from Judith Ciancimino. She noted with joy that "her" daughter, Lauren was returning from the "dark side" by moving from Van Nuys to the Palms area at the end of April. Judith donated $25 from the money she'll be saving on gas commuting to Van Nuys every weekend.

Once again, no one pulled the ace of spades in the 50/50 drawing, so $1640. carries over to next week.

Thanks to Judith Ciancimino for taking pictures this week.
