Each week President Jim will share his thoughts about that week's meeting with Tony Ciancimino who will pass them on to members and friends. District Governor Lew Bertrand, two visitors from the Beverly Hills Club and Insa's boyfriend, attended this week's meeting to help welcome her as our newest member.

Dear fellow Rotarians and friends,

We were honored to have District Governor Lew Bertrand join us this week to officiate at one of our most pleasant duties, installing a new member into our Club. Insa Janssen announced a few weeks ago that she had taken full time employment in the field of legal entertainment. With Lew's words that you have to ask people if they want to become a Rotarian ringing in her ears, Judith Ciancimino raced to Insa after that meeting and asked her if she wanted to join our Club. Insa said yes and started the ball rolling. Lew swore Insa into our Club with members of her ambassadorial scholar sponsoring club, Beverly Hills and her boyfriend, there to help her mark her special day. Judith was equally proud to sponsor her first new member. President Jim called Kathrine Russell to the podium to Imagejoin he and Insa for a surprise. There are occasions when the Board of Directors or individuals may share their Paul Harris Fellow points to speed up a member's ability to attain Paul Harris Fellow status. The Board of Directors unanimously voted to do this in Insa's case. She will be awarded her fellowship at the June Demotion party.

We were happy to welcome back special guests Rachel Sunday and John Marcato. It was great to spend more time with them.

Our speaker this week was Cynthia Hoepner, Principal of St. Bernard High School. She was joined by Kelly LeBouf,

Image Development Director, to bring us up to date on today's St. Bernard. Cynthia outlined the plan to bring the school to new heights on every level. Cynthia graciously thanked the Club for the Teacher Mini Grants that the school was recently awarded. It was great to learn more about our partner St. Bernard and the people who make it dynamic.

Katie Litsey reviewed this weekend's local competition for the District Vocational Contest in speech, dance, music and art. We will sponsor four students at the March 9th District competition at LMU. Thanks to Katie for her hard work in "challenging" conditions.

Gwen presented the spring calendar of events a copy of which is attached to this Bulletin. Please note that dates have been set for the annual car rally and Luck `O the Irish BingoFest. We have a full plate of programs and projects.

President Jim updated the Club on Judith Wilson's status. Her rehab is not progressing as quickly as hoped but she is gutting through difficult work. She is in everyone's thoughts and prayers.

Judith Ciancimino finished up the January birth presentations by acknowledging Clarence Griffin and perennial 29 year old David Voss. Happiest to both!

There was no winner in the 50/50 card drawing so $370 carries over to next week.

Thanks to Judith Ciancimino for this week's photos.
