Each week President Gail will whisper in Tony Ciancimino's ear how the Club is "Sharing Smiles" and living Service Above Self. Tony will then share it with the Club.

Dear fellow Rotarians and friends,

As called for in the Foundation By-Laws Tom Ryan advised the nominees and term lengths of the proposed Board members for 2012-2013, who were voted on and elected. Congratulations to Gail Goldstein,Jim Vuchsas, Lisa Schwab, James Frawley, Christina Davis and Tom Ryan.

President Gail reminded all that we would be "dark" 6/27 and 7/4 with the new Rotary year kicking off on 7/11 with Jim Vuchsas assuming the presidency.

We were happy to welcome back Lisa Fimiani who brought Erin Strauss, wife of friend Eric Strauss. They were a delightful addition to the last meeting of President Gail's year.

Spotlight of the day was President Gail's "look in the rear view mirror" recap of the Club's achievements over the last Imagetwelve months. We hit new heights under her leadership. The name of our cardboard boat entry, "Gail Force" epitomized the strength and focus of the year and our activities. Gail highlighted the new ground we broke and credited those who led the way. President Gail was gracious in giving honor to others for the year successes, but it was Gail who provided the vision and drive that fueled a year without equal. The Club appreciates her dedication and will show our appreciation at the June 29th Demotion Party. She will be roasted and toasted (mostly roasted) as we goodbye to the year of the "happy face: and usher in "the year of the bear," formally swearing in President Jim and his Board of Directors. Multiple Paul Harris Fellowships will also be awarded, bringing us closer yet to becoming a 100 % Paul Harris Club.

On Sat June 23rd we held our first ever Vintage Treasure Sale, that which any other group would call a yard sale.  It was a major effort requiring two days of preparation on top of set up and clean up. Thanks to all who participated and allowed us to earn $2100. for our Foundation.

Playa Venice will have an entry in the annual 4th of July Parade. Come out early (9:00-10:00 AM ish) to Westchester Park to help decorate and stay to ride on the float. Howard and Alex are heading the effort.Image

Congratulations to the Club for a banner year. We climbed every mountain to proudly plant the Playa Venice flag. In 2012-2013 President Jim will take us to new territory. It will be exciting and rewarding.

Thank you for allowing me to be your reporter this year.

Be well.

Yours in Rotary service,

Tony
