Our annual Pancake Breakfast at Fire Station No. 5 was held from 8am to 11am at Fire Station No. 5 in Westchester.  This event has been held every summer for the past 13 years to raise funds for the local firefighters.  Playa Venice Sunrise runs the event in partnership with the Los Angeles Airport Marriott Hotel who provides all the food as well as the Playa del Rey Moms Club who provide crafts and activities for the kids.

We had approximately 300 people in attendance this year and raised about $1200 for the firefighters.  The Rotarians along with Marriott personnel cooked served and bussed tables.  We had a bouncy house for the kids, a clown making balloon animals and a craft table provided by the Playa del Rey Moms Club.   There were a number of fire rigs on display including the 1932 Bandwagon.  The firefighters provided demonstrations and let the kids take turns shooting the fire hose and tours of the station were given as well.  We had 80% participation and attendance from the club

Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary has a strong longstanding partnership with the local fire stations.  In addition to No. 5 in Westchester, we also support Fire Station No. 67 in Playa Vista and Fire Station No. 63 in Venice.  Events are scheduled during this Rotary year to raise funds for both of these other stations.
