Each week we'll present a review of that week's meeting and upcoming Playa Venice events. Peter Smyth and Don Culton are shown manning our booth at a recent Farmer's Market at Playa Vista.

Dear fellow Rotarians and friends,

We were joined this week by new friends we met at the Venice Expo, David Kwak and Jean Rudny of Unity Funding. They came to learn more about how we provide "service above self"to our community and around the world.  Also with us was special guest Captain Jon Peters of LAPD's Pacific Division. His status was soon to change.

Thanks to Mr. Generosity, Howard Pollack, we brought the Pacific Division on broad as our newestImage Corporate Member. LAPD joins the Marina del Rey Hospital and the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce in this new Rotary designation. To make sure that we brought the Captain and his people in on the right note we asked immediate past president and retired LAPD detective Jim Vuchsas to act as the installing officer. Jim did a great job in bringing the right tone to the event. We are very proud to have the Captain and his associates as members of our Club! We are back up to last year's high water mark of 51 members.

This week's speaker was Amanda Loveland who is a "life coach"who spoke on Observations of a Non Actor. She gave a great talks on how to analyze situations and turn them to our Imageadvantage. She was a delight to have with us.

President Tom asked if anyone had happy events to memorialize with "Happy Bucks." Nate Richards had an investment come together ($50,) Jim and Gwen each kicked in to acknowledge granddaughter Addy was starting dance class at age 4 ($5. each,) to celebrate the 4th of July Luis' wife has a baby boy Ivan($25,) Clarence bragged that his daughter was a designer on LMU's 4th of July Float ($20,) Don advised he was double celebrating a 29th anniversary and being cancer free ($5 each,) Jory's daughter is going to her first day of preschool ($5,) Lisa advised her niece in Las Vegas who had a baby a year ago has turned her life around and just celebrated 19 months of sobriety ($25,) John Marcato got 8 continuous weeks of obligations and is ready the celebrate summer ($20) and Peter, who wants to be the new Membership Director, offered $10 the because we are back to 51 members.

Last week's 50/50 raffle brought in $105 with no winner. There was no winner again this week, so the pot goes up to $240 and carries over to next week.

We look forward to seeing everyone at this Sat.'s Pancake Breakfast at Fire Station 5 (8:00 AM to  11:00 AM.)  It's always a great event.
