Dear Fellow Rotarians and friends,

The new Rotary year and Tom Carson's presidency started out at breakneck speed. Unfortunately we lost two members in June due to business pressures. We solved half of that problem when Luis Jimenez was sworn in this week as ourImage newest supporting member. He brought our membership total up to 50. Good friend and District Membership Chair Jerry Brown served as the installing officer, with Constance as Luis' sponsor. Congratulations to Luis and his wife on the arrival of Ivan Emil Jimenez, born on the 4th of July, weighing in at 8 lbs. 15 ozs.

Tis the season... David Shapiro's wife had a baby girl  on the 6th,  Ella Shapiro, 8 lbs 21'inches.  The family of Rotary keeps growing! Congratulations to all of the new parents!

Visiting Rotarian, Frances DeNuit from New Mexico schooled us on the particulars  of an eClub. One can do make ups at WWW.RotaryMakeup.org.

Selected Demotion Party photos have been put on the website. If you want to view all the 444 pictures use the link I mentioned in my recent email or go to Venicepaparazzi.com. If there is a picture anyone wants just let me know the photo number.

President Tom shared his theme for the year, Build Rotary Through Trust. As we grow we need to both trust and take ownership of the responsibility to maintain the high standards we set last year.

Tom announced that fines and brags this year will be called Happy Bucks. They can be any amount this week the following people proclaimed their happiness:

Judith Wilson Car Wrap $5., Gail 30 years with Rob $30., Lucy $2 because, Rachel Sunday great appraisal on her home $10, Alex Grandfather to be $20, Davis Voss new hot wheels $38, Howard 30 years with United Airlines $4.62, Bobbie son turned 20 $5., Dan 29 year anniversary $5, Katie birthday $10,

Last Sat. a group of Rotarians manned a booth at the Playa Vista Farmer's Market to do some PR. It was fun for thoseImage of us who hadn't been before and old home week for the rest. Talks are ongoing for a repeat visit.

Next Sat. is our annual Fire Station 5 pancake breakfast with the LAX Marriott. This is always a great event with minimal heavy lifting.

We will be posting some 4th of July photos soon, keep an eye out. Congratulations to Christina and Gwen for putting on the best Parade ever! Hard to believe it has been 14 years.

Thanks to Howard Pollack's generosity tomorrow we will install LAPD's Pacific Division as our newest corporate member. Immediate past President and retired LAPD detective Jim Vuchsas will be our installing officer.
