On Friday January 15th Gwen Vuchsas and President Lisa Schwab led a group of community representatives in awarding over $13,000 in Teacher Mini Grants to local educators. This is the 13th year of the program that Gwen brought to the Westchester/Playa del Rey area. These grants help cover the costs of projects that either go undone because of the lack of funds or are paid for out of the teacher's own pocket. Dollar amount top out at $200 for individual teachers or $400 for teaching teams. The principals accept the awards for their teachers. Comments of gratitude ranged from, "I have worked at many schools and no other community does this," to, "I speak for my fellow educators when I say how grateful we are for your touching so many lives!" Playa Venice joined with the Howard Hughes Center, Playa Vista, Westchester Rotary, Lance Lipscomb, Rob Bird and many others in making this special day happen. Cantalini's (thank you Lisa Schwab) hosted the event. It was a true Rotary moment!
