The newly functioning Interact Club at Animo Venice Charter HS had its first fundraiser last Thursday and raised $50 to send to the Ajijic Rotary Club in Mexico. This will be used in their weekly program of feeding the hungry in the shantytown on the outskirts of Chapala, near Guadalajara.  President Elect Gail topped this off with a $20 bill, so today we did a bank transfer for $70.  This means that the Interact students are now sponsoring the milk each week for the next seven weeks.  Ajijic members meet each Friday with other volunteers to feed mostly mothers and their children.  They add chocolate flavoring to the milk that includes vitamins and supplements.  The program grows and they hope to expand it soon to two days a week.  The Interact group will send three students and their teacher advisor, Beth Abronson, to the District Breakfast next week and three students to the RYLA weekend on Catalina, April 15-17.
