On Friday, June 23rd, our club hosted its Annual Demotion Party 2023 by celebrating, and roasting, our beloved outgoing president, Mr. Joe Chehade. And inducting our new 2023-2024 president, yours truly Hilton Brown. The celebration, held at the Del Rey Yacht Club Marina Del Rey did not disappoint! The event was filled with love, laughter, libations and fellowship. It was MAGICAL! It included a skit entitled "Putting the Genie Back in the Lamp" playfully, and joyously, roasting our ongoing president. Judging by the feedback, and laughter, the audience loved it. Kudos to the ever-creative Lisa Schwab, who seems to out-do herself every year with her creative genius, script-writing and casting. Staging by Ms. Stephanie Rondeau. And, the Oscar for best ensemble performance goes to: the Playa Venice Sunrise Players. An ensemble performance so well executed that the incoming District Governor, Ms. Makiko Nakasone, has asked if the cast would/could perform at the District Assembly 2024 at The Biltmore Hotel in downtown LA.
Special "thank you's" to current District Governor Ms. Olivia Patterson-Ryans, past District Governor Mr. Rick Mendoza, and Mr. Robert Ryans, past president of Inglewood Rotary Club and husband of Olivia for their presence at our celebration. For context, when I joined Rotary 5 years ago, Robert Ryans inducted me into our PVS Rotary Club. So, full circle, his wife Olivia inducted me as President, along with the 2023-2024 Board of Directors, at the Demotion Party.
Also worth-noting: on Friday June 30th, our past presidents (both) Jim and Gwen Vuchsas celebrated 50 years of "two becoming one" marriage. June 30th, 1973. Where did the years go? Kudos! Salute! And cheers Jim and Gwen!

We will hear recap(s) of the Annual Westchester 4th of July Parade by Gwen Vuchsas who has been working on its success since its beginning back in 2000. The event is co-chaired by our PVS Rotary's very own past President Jerry Jen.
We will get an update on the August 10th Inaugural Sunset Cruise from Tracey Thompson-Busa and Kurtis Sundblom.
