Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
Come to the meeting tomorrow to enjoy our club’s Pageant of the Arts finalists. Our teens will share their talents in art, dance, vocal and instrumental before they go on to compete for $1,000 scholarships at the district competition Mar 14. Thank you Vocational Chair Lindsay Thomas (Rotarian of the Month, BTW!), Gwen Vuchsas, and John Sharpe. Let’s cheer on our youth!
BINGOFEST is Saturday night! If you haven’t registered and still want to go, let Gwen know right away. Tracey Thompson Busa and Sean have been working hard on the silent auction – thank you to all those who have donated. You need to bring your items to the meeting tomorrow or make arrangements with Tracey right away. Remember to wear your green Saturday, and to bring lots of $5 bills for those Jamieson shots! The Pot of Gold Experience Raffle is worth over $2,000!
We had a VERY busy week...
Thank you to all those who supported our first responders during the LAX Coastal Chamber’s Protectors Week, especially Howard Pollack & Rainbow Acres for offering multiple meals, Gwen and Nora for volunteering, and our own Christina Davis and Kelli Trombley for making it all happen! Thanks to your generosity, all of our Protectors were very happy during their shift changes!
The LMU basketball night was a blast, and Playa Venice showed up in force (as usual!). Thank you Stephanie Davis, Peggy Glattes, and Gwen for putting it together – everyone (all 30 of us!) had a great time!
Thank you to everyone who attended the visit to Midnight Mission. So proud of our club that we donated 9000 paper napkins and 1200 forks – something they always need more of. Thank you President-designee Joe Chehade for leading our members & friends once again on this very special biannual event.
The Community Connections function exposed the club to hundreds of civic-minded people. Thank you Melissa Moore, Gwen Vuchsas, Peter Smyth, Ramona Ivy, Hilton Brown, Gail Brooks, Nora MacLellan, (and Margaret Kubiak!) for helping community members learn about what we do. Job well done!
Lastly (what a week!), shout out to Lucia Diaz, Danny Mishevski, Melissa Moore, Gwen Vuchsas, Ramona Ivy, Zack Hathaway (potential new member), and of course program head Nora MacLellan for handing out glasses to 125 kids during Vision to Learn on Monday! Amazing! That’s a lot of focused learning that can happen now!
Reminder that the special PVSR edition of The Hometown News comes out Thursday. Grab your copy to see our club featured, plus all the proud Rotarians who have supported the section. Thank you Stephanie Davis!!!
If you survive Bingofest and want some wine (and dinner), come to our extra-open Board Meeting for any active members, Tues Mar 10 at the LAX Chamber office. Hope to see you!
Sorry I can't seem to get these shorter... stop doing so much! March birthdays tomorrow!
In Rotary service,
Brady
