Welcome to the PVSR Weekly Newsletter
2025 - 2026 Vol. 43

“As I travel throughout Colombia, I’m struck
by how different our cultures may be, yet how
unmistakably similar we are at our core. It’s a
powerful reminder that the human connection
transcends borders
. What truly binds us together
is our shared commitment to service—caring for
those around us, strengthening our communities,
and making a difference in the world.”
– Co-President Martha Jeffers

We were pleased to welcome Shirin Mosavi-Nejad
from the Greater Van Nuys Rotary, who joined us
to share more about the impactful Foster the Love
program. In support of this meaningful work, Playa

Bryan Horsman - Speaker
Southland Honor Flight

Bryan Horsman of Southland Honor Flight joined
us for a heartfelt and inspiring presentation about
this remarkable program, which honors veterans
by taking them to Washington, D.C.
to visit the
memorials dedicated to their service. He shared
that three WWII veterans will be on the upcoming
May 1 trip—one an incredible 104 years old.

His message truly resonated with our members, sparking interest in participating in future trips
and supporting the mission. In appreciation of the
important work being done, our club was proud to
present a $500 donation to Southland Honor Flight.

Making a Difference at Foster the Love

Foster the Love is a remarkable nonprofit
dedicated to improving the lives of children
in the foster care system, reaching over
100,000 youth each year through

programs like Sweet Cases, Birthday
Boxes, and scholarships.

Last Saturday, more than 200 volunteers
gathered for a beautiful day of service, now
expanded to include a partnership with A Sense
of Home
, which helps furnish homes for youth
aging out of foster care. Our own Playa Venice
Sunrise Rotarians and family  jumped right in
painting duffel bags — Dawn and her mom;
Debbie and her husband Gene, as well as her
daughter and granddaughter; and Janet,
Ramona, Gail, and Gwen.

Becky and her husband John along with
Dave and Evan helped assemble furniture.

We look forward to welcoming this organization
at an upcoming meeting to share more about
their impactful work.
