Dear Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
Join us tonight for the Cinco de Mayo Happy Hour! Zoom link below. It’s 6:00-7:00p -- bring your margaritas and festive attitude! You might also want to centrally locate your Zoom station because you’ll need a permanent “home base” for the SCAVENGER HUNT! Prize: A $100 gift certificate to Cantalini’s!! Pressure’s on! I also want to hear some creative toasts!

THANK YOU to all members who attended this morning’s Virtual District Breakfast. We had 23 members from Playa Venice! Thank you Jonathan Harris for coordinating as District Liaison, and congrats Sean Story on doing such a great job managing the tech for the district – it was flawless!
Tomorrow morning we’ll hear from our newest member Zach Hathaway, who will tell us all about his life and career. Zach is a UCLA Law grad / business attorney / new dad / philosopher! We’ll gather at 7:30, begin the meeting at 8, hear Zach’s craft talk at 8:30, and finish by 9:00. We’ll have two bonus breakout sessions (to catch up with one another without margaritas in our hands!) from 9-9:20. Here’s the recurring link for tomorrow’s meeting:
UPCOMING EVENTS
May 16 9am - Virtual District Club Leadership Assembly. Details coming soon... anyone who wants to get more involved this coming year, put it on your calendar! All board members / event chairs / potential chairs should definitely attend.
June 20-26 - Virtual Rotary International Convention. Huge opportunity to take part on the international level without having to fly there! More details to come.
High fives to all members who have been doing your part during the pandemic – whether it’s wearing your mask, delivering food (thanks, Lindsay Thomas!), helping a neighbor with a pick-up or a meal, delivering face shields, or working with your own company/organization to do the right thing.
Playa Venice, Rainbow Acres, and the Boys & Girls Club worked together again to provide groceries this week to 38 vulnerable families. There are amazing things going on here in our community, throughout the district, and around the world. If you want to be inspired by Rotarians everywhere, check out #RotaryResponds on social media platforms... millions of dollars have been raised and distributed to help fight COVID-19.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS are due May 15 – 10 days from now! We're giving away up to twelve $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors – we worked hard to raise that money, so let’s make sure it goes to deserving students! Everyone please help to get the word out to local seniors and schools:
