Thank you to those who found extra time to initiate programs in the name of the club – food for our most vulnerable, equipment and support for our heroes, care packages for isolated seniors.
Thank you to those who somehow kept your employees on payroll so they could stay afloat.
Thank you to those who have checked in on friends, colleagues, neighbors, and fellow members.
Thank you for doing what our club does best: thinking of others before ourselves, and serving the community.
The negative impact of the pandemic has been inescapable, but thanks to the good nature and commitment of the members of this club, our community is better for it. The time will come soon for us to celebrate!

- Tomorrow, member Mary Kim will give her craft talk. Mary works in the LAX Community Relations division at Los Angeles World Airports. We look forward to it, Mary!! We’ll gather at 7:30, begin the meeting at 8, and finish by 9:00. We’ll have two bonus breakout sessions (so we can connect in small groups) from 9-9:20.
- Congrats to Jerry Jen and Delia Chi for winning the $100 Cantalini’s gift card at the Cinco de Mayo Zoom scavenger hunt! It was epic... toilet bowl scrubbers, socks with holes, and cans of beans!
- This week (Tues/Wed/Thurs) is Support Superba week! Superba is a great restaurant on Lincoln that has been very good to the Boys & Girls Club, and we hope to establish a relationship with them. They have DoorDash and Postmates for delivery. When you order, be sure to mention you are with Playa Venice Rotary – they’re expecting us! - A giant shout out to Howard Pollack & Rainbow Acres for his additional generous donation this week (and to the club members who nearly matched that donation!), which allowed the club to be responsible for another week of food delivery to the community. Thank you Boys & Girls Club of Venice and Tracey Thompson-Busa for pointing us in the right direction.
- Congratulations member Lindsay Thomas on your wedding!!!! You snuck it in – we want details! Best wishes!!!!
- Our club’s SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS are due May 15 – 3 days from now! Twelve $1,000 scholarships will go to local high school seniors – there’s still time to apply! Everyone please work to get the word out to local seniors and schools: https://playavenice.org/page/scholarships/.
