Dear Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
First off, if there is anyone who needs support, please reach out. Rotarians are not only here for the community, we’re here for each other. If you’re a concerned business owner, or you need help in any way, please lean on your fellow Rotarians. We’ll be there in a moment’s notice.
Tomorrow morning’s special meeting starts later than usual... we will gather at 8:00a, start the meeting at 8:20, and end at 8:50. Then for those of you who can make it, we’ll transition to the special meeting with General Secretary John Hewko, which we are hosting, starting at 9am.
The link for the regular meeting remains the same:

For the
John Hewko meeting, you must register in advance – look for the email from District 5280 that includes the invitation and the link to register. I have also cut-and-pasted it here:
https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIud--pqzkjHdWliAj72thxdLsqiMUo52VT
Once you’re approved, you’ll receive a new link to join the meeting. Repeat: all Playa Venice members must pre-register to join the separate John Hewko Zoom. As of this morning we already have 75 registrants from around the district.
A few congratulations...
- Pageant of the Arts: the St. Bernard dance team took third place in the dance competition and piano player Stellan Swanlund received honorable mention in instrumental. Kudos to all entrants, and to all the members who made it a great event!
- For those of you who don’t know, Cris Culton (son of late member Don Culton) is a PhD student in Latin American History at Duke University. Go Cris!
- Our amazing Venice High School Interact club, led by Ray and Carmina Morales, received the LAUSD 2019-20 Human Relations Award for its Adopt-a-Family project, modeled after our very own! - The Habitat for Humanity project has concluded – there was a drive-by caravan on Sunday. Congrats to all families on their new homes, and new lives!
