Dear Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
Believe or not, Donald Trump will be our guest speaker tomorrow.
April fools!
First up, Gail– you looked great on Zoom last night! So glad to see you’re recovering quickly.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Cantalini’s night... it was a welcome exchange of entertainment, cuisine, and support. John Sharpe showed us his multiple talents, Delia Chi got us moving with the ukulele, Gwen set the tone with her wonderful words, Tracey and Michael – you were maaavelous, and special guest Lucy Clearwater highlighted the night with a beautiful rendition of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow!” Thank you Lisa for supplying all the delicious fare, and Blossom and Clint – you stole the show! Last night was just what we all needed...thank you Tracey and Gwen for making it happen.
Tomorrow morning, we are going to have our very first Zoom-Induction! Zach Hathaway, sponsored by Melissa Moore, will be inducted by none other than District Governor Melody St. John. Please join us to give a virtual welcome-hug to Zach!
Congratulations to Nora MacLellanfor receiving Rotarian of the Monthfor February. Nora, we’re proud of all the work you do with Vision to Learn, and thank you for your endless work for the club as Club Services director.
As we finish up our third week of social distancing and isolation, I hope you have all been able to keep a somewhat positive viewpoint for everyone you come in contact with. As Rotarians we need to stay practical and encouraging, do the right thing, and help those around us who might be having an even harder time than us.
We are all leading by example by staying home. But if you are reaching out beyond your door to be a leader on your block, in your building, in your neighborhood, please let me know what you’re up to. Send pictures. Don’t feel like you’re looking for a compliment – I just want to keep track of what our members are doing. Thanks.
I have been in close touch with Kari Mozell at the hospital. The board will be meeting this week to discuss how we can help our amazing health-care workers. So as a club, we will definitely be doing something. I’ll keep you updated.
Remember, it’s April Fools’ tomorrow!!! How many times does that happen where we get to meet on April Fools’ Day? All types of wardrobe, accessories, and gags are welcome! We’ll “gather” starting at 7:30, Tracey will lead the Pledge and provide words of inspiration at 8:00 sharp, and we’ll have another “free raffle.” (BTW, speakers and events to the right are inaccurate - sorry!) See you in the morning!
