Rotary Youth Exchange - Welcoming
the World to Our Community

Warren Bobrow of the Westchester Rotary Club
shared an update on the upcoming Rotary Youth
Exchange, inviting members to host visiting
students this June.

This year the District will welcome 26
international students through SCANEX,
with a new approach—students will stay in
members’ homes, creating a more personal
cultural experience. Arriving Sunday, June 14,
hosts will pick up students from LAX or Union
Station and spend the day exploring together.
Monday includes a full day of organized activities,
followed by a group dinner. Students depart early
Tuesday, June 16, with hosts assisting in drop-off.

Thank you to all who are opening their home
specifically to Ramona, Sylvia, and Janet —this
is Rotary in action, building connections that
span the globe.

For more information on how to sign up to
volunteer in becoming a host family, please
reach out to Warren Bobrow at wsbobrow@gmail.com.

Speaker Jonathan Harris -
A Look At The Middle East

We were pleased to welcome back former Playa
Venice Sunrise member Jonathan Harris, whose
global experience and deep knowledge of the
Middle East brought a thoughtful and insightful
perspective on the complex issues surrounding
the ongoing conflict in the region.

While the headlines remain sobering, his
message offered more than just a reflection
on the challenges. He provided meaningful
context, helping us better understand the
historical and geopolitical forces at play,
while also reminding us of the importance
of informed dialogue, compassion, and a
continued commitment to peace.

Flipping for the Community: Pancake
Breakfast a Big Hit at LAPD Pacific

The Pancake Breakfast at LAPD Pacific was a
great success, drawing a crowd of a couple
hundred community members for a fun and
engaging morning. The Playa Venice Sunrise
Rotary team handled all the cooking, with a
special nod to Tony P for taking charge of the
eggs. Guests enjoyed police displays, station
tours, and an open house that brought the
community closer to those who serve.

A big thank you to eleven of our own PVSR
volunteers Bobbie, Gwen, Gail, Rob, Jan,
Debbie, Dave, Evan, Racquel, Marsha, and
Nancy for making the event such a
memorable gathering!
