Dear Playa Venice Rotarians & Friends,
Tomorrow we get to hear from the one and only Melissa Moore! Melissa began her career in the entertainment industry, then jumped over to owning her own accounting and business management company. Come hear all about Melissa’s life and career - we’ll gather at 7:30, begin the meeting at 8, hear Melissa’s craft talk at 8:30, and finish by 9:00. For those who like to stick around (like at a regular meeting!), we’ll have two bonus breakout sessions from 9-9:20. Here’s the recurring link for tomorrow’s meeting:
Coming on Tuesday May 5... the first ever Playa Venice Cinco de Mayo Zoom Happy Hour! From 6:00-7:00p, we’ll toast, play a scavenger hunt, breakout into side parties, then come back to toast some more! Grab your own Mexican food and whip up some margaritas (let’s see some awesome serving containers!), invite a loved one/friend, and let’s keep our Playa Venice Happy Hour tradition going strong!
What amazing members we have! (Too many exclamation points so far?) Check out what’s been happening this week. I know many more of you are doing great work in your neighborhoods and with your respective companies/organizations... sorry if I’ve left things out!...
- Once again the club is providing much needed food assistance to families that the Boys and Girls Club of Venice has identified...this time for 38 deserving families. These are under-served families that have lost their income and are really battling. Thank you Howard Pollack and Rainbow Acres for what you have done, and for what you are doing. Thank you Tracey Thomson Busa for coordinating and for letting us know how we can best help struggling families in our community.
- “I lost count” is how Bobbie Casalino-Lewis described the amount of cookie packets created by members for seniors in our community. Bobbie, with help from Gwen Vuchsas and Garrett Smith, along with our fellow Rotarians from Westchester Rotary, delivered the cookies (each with a personalized inspirational note), and flowers donated by flowersbyfeliciapdr.com, to 170+ seniors in our community on April 24. Thank you Bobbie and thank you Westside Pacific Villages https://thewpv.org/.
- Face shields and mask adapters were delivered to Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital this week. Member Declan Geraghty utilized his printing resources to print the shields and adapters; Nora MacLellan (and Doug) provided their garage for storage/assembly, and donated an additional batch of face shields; Gwen Vuchsas and Hilton Brown helped with assembly/delivery. We’re also very proud of our fellow members Kari Mozell, Tammie Bean, Nolly Dave-Sachdev, Lauren Amato and others who are all contributing vital services for the hospital every day!
- John Sharpe’s Friday Night Live concert is happening again this Friday at 6:00 via the @wamblockparty Instagram feed to support musicians while venues are closed. Congrats on being on the cover of The Argonaut!
