A District Overview -
Councilwoman Traci Park

Traci Park shared an overview of her work to
date and her continued focus on improving areas throughout her Council District 11. She discussed
efforts to clean up and enhance neighborhoods
while preparing the city for major upcoming
events, including the FIFA Soccer World Cup
and the Summer Olympics.

Councilmember Park emphasized the
opportunity to address long-standing
issues in ways that will create lasting
improvements for the community well
beyond these international events. She
also answered
questions regarding her upcoming election
and shared her perspective on the current
state of Los Angeles and its future priorities.
We are grateful she took the time to speak
at our club and share her insights with
our members.

PVSR Supports Excellence in Education
at the Teacher Eddy Awards
A truly remarkable evening celebrated 26
outstanding teachers and educational leaders
with the coveted Teacher Eddy Award trophy.

Often called the “Oscar night” of the local education
community, the annual event gathered more than
300 educators, administrators, business leaders,
and community members to celebrate outstanding
local teachers. Each participating school honored
its Teacher of the Year during the dinner gala.
The Chamber also honored the 2026 recipients,
John Mueller of the Foundation for Interscholastic
Youth Athletics and Becky Cunningham of the
LAX Coastal Education Foundation.
The evening was masterfully led by Master of
Ceremonies Rotarian Hilton Brown and event
Co-Chair Rotarian Gwen Vuchsas.
The program was highlighted by St. Anastasia
School 5th grade student Colin Matthews singing
the National Anthem and Visitation School 8th
grader Gabe O’Donoghue delivering the invocation.

The atmosphere throughout the evening was
electrifying, as school administrators, colleagues,
friends, and families enthusiastically supported
and celebrated the honored teachers.
Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary, one of the event
sponsors, was well represented by Rotarians
Courtney, Natalie, Janet, Linda, Ramona,
Sylvia, and Martha.

PVSR Flips Up Fun at the Annual
Fire Station #63 Pancake Breakfast

Continuing a beloved tradition that dates back
to 2009, Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary proudly
partnered with Fire Station 63 for another
hugely successful Annual Pancake Breakfast.
The community event welcomed families and
friends from across Venice and neighboring communities for a morning filled with food,
fun, and fellowship.
Guests enjoyed pancakes, eggs, and sausage
prepared by the firefighters, while children had
fun with jump houses, face painting, fire truck
activities, hose demonstrations, and an exciting
auto extrication demo. Music and the smell of
breakfast fresh off the grill added to the festive
atmosphere.

This year’s pancake breakfast welcomed Fire
Chief Jaime Moore, Chief of Staff Kairi Brown,
Operations West Bureau Deputy Chief William
Peralta, and Angela La Riva who was named
an Honorary Fire Chief.

Traci Park District 11 also joined the festivities
in support of the dedicated men and women who
serve and give back to the community every day.
We are so deeply grateful to the amazing PVSR
volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the
event such a success. Matthew and Jason handled
grill and equipment transport, while Ramona,
Gwen, and Lucy arrived early to set up and keep
things running smoothly. John, Rob, Dave, and
Evan kept breakfast-goers fed, Bobbie warmly
welcomed guests, and Linda added festive flair
with her balloon decorations. Rob and Dean kept
the food flowing, and Susan, Jan, and Gail
greeted guests and collected donations for the
fire station. Special thanks also to Joe and
Karin Wallerstein Santa Monica Rotary who
jumped in to serve.

A huge thank you to major sponsor the Stephanie Younger Group for making their first Pancake Breakfast appearance so memorable! Their
team brought fun giveaways, a face painter,
and a balloon artist who kept the kids smiling
all day. We truly appreciate Stephanie and
her team for their generosity, energy, and
community support!

Finally, special appreciation goes to Captain Jason
Jamal, whose partnership and coordination helped
create a memorable community celebration
enjoyed by all.
