Dear Rotarians,

 

Our Cultural Dinner results netted over $30,000 to our Playa Venice Sunrise Rotary Foundation and we still have an opportunity to raise that amount with the lovely Sea Island Resort vacation.  The auction is due to close tonight however we are going to extend as there is interest brewing!  (See below and we encourage you to pass on to any friends or family you think may be interested in this fabulous resort!)

 

We have had a busy and wonderful couple of weeks with the club - interesting craft talk from member Greta Rose, 20 in attendance at the Million Dollar dinner on 10/28 to see member Rob DeCou recognized and honored for his Run to End Polio and an informative Community Update Program from member Christina Davis at our Bring A Friend to Rotary meeting on 11/1.  And speaking of Bring A Friend, we had 12 guests in attendance - GOOD JOB!
 

15 members attended the Bowlero Happy Hour on 11/2 along with 2 members joining us from Inglewood Rotary Dexter Hall and Robert Ryans.  We created 2 teams and had some fun bowling a couple of games.  We had a lot of laughs and found out that we are not ready for the "circuit".  Kayla gets the prize for her spirited sparkly vest and Gwen the high game (134).

 

On Sunday afternoon, we had a wine and cheese Rotary Information meeting and had the opportunity to get to know a couple of prospective members Joseph Hill and Hilton Brown.  GREAT NEWS - they both have decided to become part of our Rotary family, Joseph sponsored by Kayla and Hilton sponsored by Bobbie.  Inductions will take place on 11/15 for Joseph and 11/22 for Hilton.

 

There were 2 tables of us at the Rotary District Breakfast today to salute our Veterans.  It was an inspirational and moving program well enjoyed by the 250 in attendance.  It was a beautiful reminder of the freedoms we have in our country and appreciation for those that have served or currently serve in the military.

 

Please join us at tomorrow's meeting to hear about the smiles we have brought to the USC County Childrens Hospital with our Build-A-Bear program.  Maria Tome will be our program speaker to share stories of what these bears have meant to the recipient children.  And I am certain Maria will get everyone excited to build bears again this Sunday, November 12, 2017 at our annual event!
