Mary was born and raised in Los Angeles. Born from Korean immigrant parents, she learned to speak in Konglish (Korean + English) quite well. Mary took advantage of her ability to study abroad as a college student and traveled to Spain and South Korea. After college she realized that her love for LA was bringing her back. She loves everything about communities and lives to serve the people around her. She graduated from a program called Master of Arts in Transformational Leadership. Through the program, she lived in the slums of Brazil in order to learn from the people around her.

It was a life changing experience that led her to the values of living justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly. She then began her City career with the Department of Neighborhood Empowerment and now works for the Los Angeles World Airports, LAX Community Relations division.
