Meet Brady

BRADY CONNELL

President

Where are you from originally? If not from LA, how did you end up here?
I grew up in “The Valley,” but ever since my time at UCLA, I’ve lived on the westside.  For years I dreamed of living near the beach, and it finally happened in 2005. I’ll never go east of Lincoln Blvd again!

Tell us about your occupation.
I’ve enjoyed a challenging career as a television producer and director, working primarily in unscripted and documentary content. I’m what’s called a “showrunner,” which means I get to oversee the creative and logistical aspects of television series such as “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” or “The Great Christmas Light Fight”. I’m also a multi-camera director, hired to direct complicated shows like “The Amazing Race” or “Eco-Challenge.”

Why did you join Rotary and what is your favorite Rotary experience?
I’ve lived in the Playa del Rey / Marina del Rey for over a decade, and love the area.  I wanted to find a way to give back to the community, and when I heard what Rotary does (everything!), and when I met the fantastic members of Playa Venice, I knew that was the place for me.  My favorite moments in Rotary have been when we get to directly help others, like when a small group of us “adopts” one of many families and we get to deliver gifts to their home for Christmas.  But the great thing is that “Rotary Moments” can happen pretty much every week if you want them to…

What does your perfect weekend look like?
A perfect weekend is bringing my family to a community event on Saturday, and then to the beach on Sunday.  If they can be together on the same day, even better!
